When struggles bring you closer together
Everybody faces struggles at times in life. Sometimes it's the big and embarrassing ones, and sometimes it's the privates ones we're able to hide. Either way, in the midst of the struggle, it's hard to stay positive.
That's why I'm so inspired by Christian Faber-Kinney's story. He's a football player from Hampton University. Throughout his college career, he and his dad have been homeless. But that struggle has caused the two to grow closer than imagined.
"The bond that we've built in those tough times - we've been tested," Christian said of his relationship with his father. "We've come out on top. My father and I are closer than anyone can be. I love him so much."
You can read the whole story here.
He's working hard both as an athlete and on a career as an air traffic controller to ensure he's got a solid future to take care of himself and his dad. He said of the struggle: "it makes of breaks you... there are moments in life that are going to hit you - and you can fall or you can fight. I chose to fight."
It's always hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But be encouraged and cling on to this promise: "Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later." (Romans 8:18 NLT).
